WHY WE EXIST
A question no product could answer
At a Cisco-acquired analytics startup, our founding team sat on huge volumes of customer data and could never answer one question with a straight face: who on our own team could see a given customer’s data, and would we know if it was misused? No product could tell us, so we built one. The only place to answer the question was from inside the data, so Theom runs inside Snowflake, Databricks, and BigQuery, tracing every interaction in place. We spent years on that foundation before selling a thing, so when AI dropped a layer of agents acting on people’s behalf, Theom was already inside the data, sensing every interaction as it happened.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
Security belongs inside the data, not around it
Most security watches from the outside and hopes to catch what slips past. We believe the opposite. The place to protect data is inside it, close enough to sense every interaction as it happens, not at a perimeter the data outgrew years ago.
Presence beats alerts: a platform that lives in the store can trace who touched what, tell signal from noise by context, and act on the rules you set, instead of paging you after the fact. It is a quieter way to work, less siren, more the steady hum underneath, and it is the only approach we have ever believed in.

From Om to Theom
The name came from a co-founder, and it starts with a sound. Om is often described as the hum of the universe, a background note said to permeate everything, tied in that telling to a single frequency, 432 Hz.
He was taken with the idea of something already present in everything, quietly, that you notice only once you tune in, and it mapped neatly onto what we were building. Data is the lifeblood of an enterprise, and Theom lives inside it, in tune with every interaction, so nothing moves without being sensed. Put “the” in front of “Om” and you arrive at Theom.

Leadership

As a former CEO, CISO, and CDO, Navindra has experienced the challenges of governing and protecting modern data and AI infrastructures, which led him to start Theom. Previously, he founded Tetration Analytics (acquired by Cisco). Earlier, as a founding engineer at Insieme (also acquired by Cisco), he developed the ACI switch fabric for data centers and the cloud. At Google, he built, governed, and protected Google’s data and network infrastructure. Navindra holds 458+ patents.

Ravi’s understanding of data infrastructure security and customer needs enables him to successfully implement and scale solutions. Previously, Ravi was a founding engineer at Tetration Analytics (acquired by Cisco). Earlier, Ravi held engineering leadership roles at Yahoo! and Sun Microsystems working on Hadoop and server technologies. Ravi holds patents in data and security inventions.

Farid brings to his role a diverse experience that includes AI, enterprise technologies, and venture capital. Previously, Farid led business development at Labelbox, and Turbonomic (acquired by IBM). Earlier, Farid was a partner at Andreessen Horowitz where he supported enterprise investments. Prior to a16z, Farid spent over six years at Cisco in various product management roles.

Danesh is a software engineer and researcher with deep domain knowledge in cybersecurity. He has designed and built applied ML systems. Previously, at Google, Danesh was a tech lead for Gmail Security and also led data science and machine learning for Google Cloud Security (Chronicle). Danesh has a Ph.D. in computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology; his research focused on information security, and adversarial learning.

Tim brings deep experience building enterprise security products across identity, data, and cloud security. Previously, he led the engineering team for Identity Graph at SailPoint, building technology to help organizations understand and secure complex identity relationships and access. Prior to SailPoint, Tim was Co-founder and VP of Engineering at Double Zero Security, which was acquired by SailPoint. Earlier, Tim was part of the Tetration Analytics team at Cisco, working on security and data center technologies.

Lachlan leads revenue at Theom. He has spent his career helping data companies reach the customers who need them, having led go-to-market teams at a number of early-stage data infrastructure companies. Originally from Australia, he is based in Southern California.
